“The Romanian Hora” is an arrangement of a traditional Klezmer tune. Most Klezmer musicians throughout Eastern Europe were wiped out by the Nazis, but the few that escaped to America or elsewhere were able to preserve the music. The style is often organized into three sections: AABBCC. While the tune’s scale often remains constant throughout, each section often changes to a new tonal center, yet still using the same scale. This is highly unusual because the change in tonal center tricks the ears into thinking the tune has changed keys.
