“De Huetamo a Pachuca” comes from the Calentano style, the traditional fiddle music of Mexico. Calentano tunes often incorporate entire movements, much like classical concertos, but the rhythms and types of scales are quite different. And it’s interesting to note that Calentano shares an attribute with the Klezmer and Romany styles: while scales in classical music use whole and half steps, all three of these styles include a gap of a minor third in their scales.
